WE LOVE PICTURES!

Here at AllegroWear.com our favorite thing is when we get pictures of the darling young dancers that wear our clothes. We especially loved this particular customer and her beautiful daughters on their birthdays with their birthday tutu's!

First is Mya on her first birthday. Her nickname is "Bee" from "The Adventures of Maya the Bee" and so she had to have a yellow and black tutu for a bumble bee. DARLING! Her mom said she wouldn't hold still so she had to take the picture above looking down. :)

Maddox is 2 and her favorite disney character is Tinkerbell so they call her "Tink". Tinks colors are green and pink so she got that tutu for her 2nd birthday. What a doll!!

Thanks for the pictures Morgan !!!

Gifts for Dance teachers

Yay! Here comes Christmas! Time to shop for those special Dancers in your life. Need a Christmas gift for a Dancer? Find them here. Need gift ideas for a special dance teacher? Here are 10 ideas from http://www.associatedcontent.com. Good luck and Happy Dancing Christmas!

Top Ten Gift Ideas for Dance Instructors or Dancers
Here are some suggestions on what to buy the special dancer or dance teacher in your life for the holidays.

As the holidays roll around we sometimes get stuck when we are attempting to figure out what to buy people. Teacher gifts are always tough because you don't want to buy them another mug that they will just set on a shelf. A dance teacher is an even tougher person to buy for Sometimes because if it is your child's teacher you may not know much about the person, or about dance. As a dance teacher who has received many different gifts and heard from other teachers what they did and did not like I can assure you that what I am about to suggest should please any dance teacher or dancer.

10. As a person who is always trying to eat healthy I once received a box of chocolates, which was wonderful. I never would have bought them myself, and everyone deserves a treat once in awhile. However, not everyone might enjoy them as much as I did. One family gave me a gift basket with hot chocolate, teas, and a mug. I thought that was a very nice and practical gift.

9. Dancer cookies. Continuing with the food theme in my first idea you could also include cookies in the shape of dancers. Or in the shape of other things that may remind you of dance. You could make basic sugar or gingerbread cookies. These could even be a special treat at the end of class for each student. A cookie cutter with a recipe and the ingredients for the recipe in a little basket would also make a nice gift.

8. Ornaments/figurines. I do not know how many little ballerina decorations I own. Every year someone gives me one. Many of them are beautiful, and I do not mind the collection I have accumulated at all. A small figure of a dancer might also be a nice gesture, especially if the figure looked like the student or the teacher. Or maybe it was reminiscent of a part someone had in a recital or ballet. A nutcracker however is probably overused and may not be the best choice for a figure or ornament.

7. If you got caught up in the recent knitting craze you may like to knit a scarf as a gift. An even better thing to knit for a dancer would be legwarmers. You could use three needles without heads, or stitch together a long rectangle. There are different lengths of legwarmers from 17" to 24" to 36" to 48". Just take your pick; people always appreciate effort and care that gets put into homemade gifts.

6. T-shirts/apparel. You can take a trip to your local dance store, or look in a catalogue such as discount dance supply and find a shirt that says dance or has a dancer on it. Watch for a couple weeks to see what sort of clothing the person you are buying the item is for. wears. Do they wear things loose or tight fitting? Do they even wear t-shirts? Be careful when buying clothing for someone else.

5. Another suggestion is to see what dance things a bookstore might have. A book or video on dance instruction might be something helpful. Just make sure it doesn't come across as an insult to the teacher's abilities. You may also find some classical music that could be used in the ballet class, or simply a calendar with dancers on it.

4. Posters/Prints. Many dance studios have posters or prints of dance on their walls. A nicely framed poster or print might be a nice addition the lobby or office of a dance studio. Or the teacher may want to hang it in their home.

3. Hair things. Dancers must always keep their hair up out of their face, unless they are doing African or hip-hop, but typically hair is back. Ponytail elastics, hairnets, cute bobby pins, or even those pretty elastics with flowers that H&M sells are all things you could throw in with a card if you do not feel like spending lots of money. They are practical and something dancers are always running out of.

2. Lotions. I know most people think bath and body products are a cop out gift, but they aren't for a dancer. A dancer really needs to take care of their body, especially their feet. One of the best gifts I received last Christmas was a special foot lotion and special socks to moisturize your feet. I had never heard of such a thing, but for someone who dances barefoot throughout the year it was wonderful. I now look at my fellow dancers dry feet and think that I should give them some of the lotion. Look for special lotion for the feet, special socks, and even legwarmers could be added to make a nice little gift basket.

1. Picture frames, collages, and scrapbooks. These are always precious gifts because you know a lot of thought has gone into them. Take photos of throughout the years with that dance teacher and yourself or child to make a nice collage or scrapbook. If you or your child is going to be leaving the studio or graduating the gift will be even more special. For a newer student who may not have as many photos a framed photo of the class or the student and teacher might be a nice sentiment.
